Biodynamic farming views the farm as a fully fledged living ecosystem that works in an holistic and integrated manner. Therefore, the trees, the land, the animals and the farmer himself all become part of a single self-sufficient ecosystem that always keeps itself healthy and fertile. This “cultivation philosophy” theorised in 1924 by Rudolf Steiner not only adheres to the basic principles of organic farming, such as not using any chemical fertilisers or pesticides, but also aims to improve both the quality of foods for human consumption as well as the overall ecosystem of which each farm is a part. Thanks to a growing awareness of the effects that diet has on our quality of life, biodynamic farming methods have spread and grown consistently over time.
